Matsuyama Sake Museum, Matsuyama Hana no Kura

Sake Museum with the image from an old store house.
Inside the museum, there is an Anime character showing the process of sake making, characteristic of sake and sake-matching food. It also shows the old sake making method and the actual sake-making tools.
In event gallery, there are many exhibitions over the year.

Matsuyama Hana no Kura

It is located next to the sake museum. It is the market for local products such as “sake ice-cream,” sake and miso tasted “madeleine,” sake made from local water and rice, as well as tasty vegetable, fruit and cakes.

Matsuyama Furusato History Museum

In the exhibition room (history) of Furusato History Museum, there are many collections of cultural assets of Matsuyama area from primitive age, ancient times to modern times, especially the collection related to Moriwa family, which belonged to the Sendai Lord. Besides, there are other exhibition themes such as archeology, history, race and art. The museum also runs special exhibitions periodically.

Cosmos garden (Matsuyama Gohonmaru Park)

Cosmos Garden

The Gohommaru Park is the located in the ruin of the medieval castle in Matsuyama, the Sengoku Castle. It is divided into Honmaru, Ninomaru and Sannomaru. In Sannomaru, it is developed as Cosmos Park as the memorial project of the centennial anniversary of Meiji Restoration. Inside the park, there is a small hill where you can enjoy a great panorama view of Osaki City. It is a park with flowers of each season. Cosmos, the flower of autumn, can be seen from early September to late October. Cosmos Matsuri will be held in mid September.

Moniwa Family House

It is the family house of Moriwa family, who was the lord of Matsuyama area. Inside the house we can see eight wooden sculptures including Satsuki Ryogen (city cultural assets). Behind the sculptures you can find the memorial tablets of the Date family and Moriwa family. The characteristics of the hall are Kayafuki, Keyaki structure, white wall and Uguisu-hari paper.

Hokke Saburo (Japanese sword workshop)

Hokke Saburo is one of the best Japanese sword masters in Miyagi prefecture. He is capable of making Yamatoden Hosho sword, one of the five sword traditions in Japan. It is a famous and elegant sword with straight tooth and beautiful dot patterns, like shiny stars at the night sky.
